Addressing the “customizable platform” paradox with a modular device design approach
In the October issue of ONdrug Delivery magazine, SHL Medical’s Lyndon Wild and Gene Rhode Fuensalida Pantig, RPh discuss a modular device technology built around the Molly® customizable platform.
In this article, the authors discuss the growing need for various customization options in autoinjector development, the paradox of “customizable platform” offerings, and how the Molly® technology addresses the aforementioned challenges with its robust architecture.
The concepts of platform and modularity have been around for decades. However, in the self-injection industry the utilization of both approaches through complementation is quite new. Foreseeing a future of mass customizations in device development, the authors argue that device projects requiring customizable technologies that leverage the advantages of a modular approach, such as that found in the Molly® autoinjector, will continue to scale.
