PDCP - Process Engineer (Metal Component)

Job Overview

This role as a Metal Component Process Engineer is responsible for the development of advanced manufacturing processes for different kinds of metal components, such as coil springs, cap removers, or guide rods. The objective is to establish robust manufacturing processes that balance high quality yields with optimal productivity to accommodate complex customer demands and enable future growth. Assuring successful project delivery and process implementation in pro-active collaboration with interdisciplinary project teams within agreed time and cost constraints are key aspects of this role.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize advanced mass production processes for metal components incl. trial run coordination and execution (benchmark, optimization, verification, and validation runs)
  • Drive cross-departmental coordination of project-related development tasks with our Process Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams
  • Initiate relevant research tasks and experiments (e.g. laboratory analyses or university collaboration) to conduct root cause analyses and prove the suitability of new technologies, materials, processes, and equipment
  • Manage all technical aspects of the projects incl. systematic conduct of problem-solving activities, testing, and evaluation tasks
  • Lead the technical supplier development and coordinate qualification activities for outsourced metal components
  • Contribute to internal innovation- and process development initiatives by recommending new or alternative technologies, processes, and equipment
  • Safeguard all relevant specifications and comply with regulatory requirements

Skills and Qualification

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar, ideally combined with 1 – 3 years of work experience
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical design and passion for manufacturing technology
  • Experience with coil spring manufacturing, cold-forming technologies, stamping technologies, and/or similar is a plus
  • Skilled in structured problem solving and logical thinking
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Independent, proactive, positive and curious attitude
  • Strong drive to strive for operational excellence
  • Familiar with technical drawings; skilled 3D design software (SolidWorks or other CAD) is a plus
  • Experience with measurement method development, process FMEA, DFM process, manufacturing process control, statistical analysis and quality assurance/control concept, and/or relative process development tools is a plus
  • Proficient in English (TOEIC 600 or above)
  • Proficient in Chinese (CEFR B2 or above)
  • Effective communication and presentation skills to communicate complex information to diverse groups of stakeholders
