In 1989, Swedish entrepreneur Roger Samuelsson founded SHL Group, now SHL Medical, with a vision to elevate medical equipment production. By combining Taiwan's manufacturing expertise with Western management practices, we set the stage for becoming a leading force in the autoinjector market. The launch of our first autoinjector in 1996 marked the beginning of a lasting legacy of innovation.

1996
Launch of our first autoinjector, the PenInject 2.25 mL. Its success sparks Roger's vision of SHL as a world-leading autoinjector solutions provider.
2006
Commercial launch of our first DAI® project. The DAI format revolutionizes self-injection treatment and lays the foundation for our sustained success in the market.
2010
Launch of Molly® autoinjector, a pre-configured, modular platform designed to provide pharmaceutical partners with greater flexibility, faster development timelines, and reduced initial investment.
2017
Commercial launch of Needle Isolation Technology (NIT®) which simplifies the way patients handle cartridge-based injectors.
2023
Launch of Molly® Connected Cap, a next-gen device that detects cap removal and transfers data to support improved treatment adherence.
2024
Introduction of Elexy™ – a versatile, electromechanical autoinjector with a reusable power unit compatible with drug cassettes containing either a pre-filled syringe or a cartridge.
DAI® - the gold standard platform that started it all
In 2006, SHL Medical launched one of the world’s first modern autoinjectors, the Disposable Autoinjector (DAI®), designed for a multinational biopharmaceutical company. This button-activated, 3-step disposable device for 1.0 mL pre-filled syringes featured an ergonomic interface, audible clicks, and automatic delivery for an easier self-injection experience.
