Overview:
The Senior Project Accountant role plays a pivotal role in supporting our Finance Excellence strategy. This role aspires to chart their own path in a newly established position as an expert in project accounting (PoC). The person should bring a passion for numbers, an aptitude for interpreting contracts, and a meticulous attention to detail without losing sight of the broader objectives. The selected candidate will join the team in Zug, in a collaborative and diverse work environment with ample opportunities for professional growth and development.
We are seeking a highly motivated, hands-on professional with a self-assured, independent work style and a robust level of resilience. In this role, you will be an integral part of the Group Reporting & Accounting department, reporting directly to the Accounting and Tax Senior Manager based in Zug, Switzerland. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate and timely recording, reporting, and analysis of financial information;
  • Participate actively in month-end closing and external audit process;
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards Swiss GAAP FER, company policies, and internal controls;
  • Build up accounting data base for customer contracts (e.g., asset ownership, warranty, scrap);
  • Contribute proactively during contract drafting / review process by providing necessary accounting guidance;
  • Support the organization with guidance on correct processing of information and follow up on customer project billing;
  • Perform analysis of accounting records to ensure accuracy and correctness;
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project accounting questions in the global organization and closely cooperate with the commercial, R&D and FP&A teams.  
  • Comply with GAAP requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions;
  • Recommend and implement improvements to accounting policies and processes and maintain respective accounting controls;
  • Maintain flexibility in assuming additional responsibilities as needed and demonstrate an ability to work independently.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 5 years of progressive experience in accounting;
  • Analytical thinker with a focus on underlying connections and reasoning (focus on identifying the "why");
  • Effective team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in English;
  • Skilled in problem-solving with a solution focused  mindset;
  • Adaptable to a dynamic and evolving work environment;
  • Demonstrates responsibility and resilience.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • Strong expertise in Percentage of Completion (PoC) accounting.
  • German language skills.
