Job Overview
The Global Carbon Accounting and LCA Expert will highly contribute and drive organization’ sustainability efforts by combining expertise in environmental life cycle assessment and corporate carbon accounting. This role focuses on developing processes and capabilities across the organization relevant to carbon accounting, conducting robust analyses, ensuring compliance with global standards, and delivering actionable insights to support decision-making across the company. Reporting into the Global Head of Sustainability, this role ensures the accurate assessment and reporting of environmental and carbon impacts and generates insight to drive sustainability innovations.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) for SHL products and processes and provide recommendations to reduce environmental impact.
- Conduct detailed LCAs using recognized tools and databases (e.g., SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA), elaborate ISO-compliant reports and manage third party validation.
- Develop and maintain GHG emissions inventories and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to leverage data maturity.
- Work cross-functionally with product development, supply chain, and operations to integrate LCA insights into decision-making.
- Train internal stakeholders on LCA and carbon accounting fundamentals to build organizational knowledge.
- Act as a subject-matter expert by providing guidance to internal teams and external partners on LCA matters.
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience of corporate experience in this field
- Advanced knowledge of LCA tools (e.g., SimaPro, GaBi, OpenLCA) and carbon accounting frameworks and standards (GHG Protocol, ISO 14067, ISO 14044)
- Strong project management and organizational abilities to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, ).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Excellent English language skills, able to communicate complex topics and writing GHG accounting and LCA reports
- Bachelor or master’s in environmental science, Engineering, or other related fields that involve environmental impact assessment and LCA
Preferred Requirements
- 2+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device and/or chemical industries in manufacturing/R&D environments.
