Job Overview
The Operations Manager – Device Assembly oversees the assembly line processes, ensuring that products meet stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves managing a team of shift supervisors, optimizing production workflows, and implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and minimize downtime. The manager also coordinates with other departments to address any issues, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality medical devices.
Main Responsibilities
- Supervisory Responsibilities: Manage a team of 4 shift supervisors
- Provide strategic direction and operational leadership to the manufacturing team, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains, implementing best practices to optimize production workflows.
- Oversee adherence to regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO) and internal quality guidelines to ensure product safety and compliance.
- Manage resources effectively, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to meet production schedules and customer demands.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing manufacturing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Monitor and control manufacturing expenses to meet budgetary goals and financial targets.
- Develop & Implement training content & plan for all hourly associates, insuring consistency between shifts
- Champion a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and promoting awareness among staff members.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain) to support product development, new product introductions, and supply chain management.
- Prepare regular reports on key operational metrics, analyze performance data, and present findings to senior management.
- Experience with green field, or startup environment.
- Experience in developing and implementing new processes or automating current processes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact at all organizational levels.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively. This includes delegating tasks, conducting performance reviews, resolving conflicts, and fostering a positive work environment.
- Expertise in identifying inefficiencies and implementing strategies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance operational performance.
Preferred: (nice to have)
- Proficiency with project management tools and techniques is beneficial
- Familiarity with methodologies Lean Manufacturing preferred (Six Sigma, Shainin)
- Understanding of industry-specific regulations and quality standards. (e.g., OSHA, ISO, FDA)
- Proficiency in using ERP systems (SAP) and other relevant software tools.
