Job Overview

The Global Head of Tax will report to the CFO based in Zug, Switzerland, and play a key role in shaping the company’s global tax strategy. This hands-on position involves ensuring global tax compliance, managing transfer pricing, overseeing tax reporting, and advising on tax implications for business initiatives. The role will lead the implementation of BEPS Pillar 2 and Country-by-Country reporting, optimize tax setups in ERP systems (SAP), and manage external tax advisors. Additionally, the Senior Expert will focus on process improvements, M&A support, and staying informed on tax law changes to ensure efficiency and compliance across jurisdictions.

Main Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain a global tax strategy in partnership with CFO and in collaboration with senior management
  • Build and maintain robust governance and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ownership of company policy
  • Set and monitor clear performance metrics (KPIs) for global tax strategy execution, including compliance efficiency, cost optimization, and timely response to global tax changes
  • Ensure global compliance with transfer pricing (TP) tax regulations, with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
  • Act as internal tax business partners across Treasury, Finance, Business Development and Supply Chain
  • Lead the implementation of BEPS Pillar 2 and Country-by-Country (CbC) reporting
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations on tax implications of business initiatives from various regions
  • Support the design and implementation of efficient and cost-effective tax setups in ERP systems (SAP)
  • Advise on business structuring, intercompany flow optimization, intercompany agreements and invoicing
  • Provide tax expertise to the business and enhance tax/TP knowledge at all levels
  • Supervise the tax reporting to ensure timely and accurate completion
  • Ownership of Masterfile documentation and other relevant TP documentation
  • Own the preparation and filing of annual tax returns
  • Identify process improvement and efficiency enhancement opportunities
  • Liaise with external tax advisors, support during tax audits and lead controversy management
  • Monitor tax and customs law changes
  • Support the CFO in projects such as M&A activities and strategic initiatives
  • Perform ad hoc duties as required by management

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of progressive work experience in areas described
  • Proven track record of success with strong analytical and cross-functional project management experience
  • Experience with the Swiss Principal Tax model is highly desirable, knowledge of US tax system a strong plus
  • Strong proficiency in tax technology and digital transformation, with experience in leveraging ERP systems like SAP
  • Proven strategic leadership with the ability to align global tax strategy with broader business objectives
  • Excellent analytical skills and well-organized
  • Ethical, able to work under time constraints, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across diverse teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly present complex tax issues to non-tax professionals
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Language: Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Economics, Law or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in leveraging ERP systems like SAP
  • Language: Fluent in German
